Restylane L is a clear injectable gel that is injected into the skin with an ultrafine needle to plump the skin to smooth away wrinkles. Indicated for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles/folds such as the nasolabial folds and lips. Indicated for those over age 21.
Restylane-L is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. Restylane-L is crosslinked with an ingredient that helps form a network of HA to provide a gel filler that lasts longer. Restylane-L is non-animal based and free from animal protein. Contains 0.3% lidocaine, added to reduce the discomfort associated with the treatment.
A week before your procedure, it is recommended that you avoid taking aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs which thin the blood. This will reduce the risk of bruising at the injection site. It is suggested that you avoid strenuous physical activities, excessive sun/heat exposure as well, or consumption of alcohol for the first 24 hours post injection. No makeup, as able, post injection for at least 12 hours. This will help reduce the chance of infection. Possible side effects include redness, itching, swelling or bumps to the area of injection. These reactions are usually mild to moderate and resolve within a week. Bruising can happen with facial injections. If you have an important event, I recommend the injections be completed 4 weeks ahead of the event. This gives you time to resolve any bruising, gives the filler time to settle and also time for any tweaks as needed. Ice is great for any swelling after injections.
